At our clinic, we are dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of veterans. We are honored to work with our veterans. We offer outpatient counseling and to address conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
To ensure accessible care, we participate in the VA Community Care Program, allowing eligible veterans to receive mental health services outside the VA system when needed, closer to home. Additionally, we are proud to have a veteran on our staff, which helps us provide understanding, empathetic, and personalized support to fellow veterans.

Our Process
1. Consult with a VA Healthcare Provider:
Start by discussing your healthcare needs and concerns with your VA primary care provider or other relevant VA healthcare team member.
2. Request a Referral:
If your VA provider determines that community care may be a good option, you will need to formally request a referral.
3. VA Review and Contact:
The VA will review your request to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements for community care.
4. Confirm Preferences and Appointment Type:
If the referral is approved, the VA will contact you to confirm your desire to receive care through a community provider and the type of appointment you need.
5. Appointment Scheduling:
Once the referral is finalized, you can either schedule the appointment yourself or have VA staff coordinate the scheduling with the community provider.
6. Authorization:
After the appointment is scheduled, VA will create an authorization, which is approval for you to receive care from the community provider.
7. Attend the Appointment:
You will then attend your scheduled appointment at AnkenyFamilyCounseling.
